Productivity

The productivity modules move internal communication, written knowledge and time management into the Odoo database. Messages, notes, calendar entries and calls sit on the customer or order record they belong to.

The path a customer topic follows inside Odoo

  1. 01

    A conversation on the record

A note is added in the chatter under a quotation, order or support record. Followers of the record are notified, and the correspondence stays inside the record.

  2. 02

    Looking something up

A Knowledge article is written for recurring questions. The article can be searched from the form view of other apps and its content pulled into a message.

  3. 03

    Onto the calendar

The meeting is added to the calendar and the attendees are invited. A videocall URL is generated inside the invitation, or an existing link is pasted in.

  4. 04

    Calling and replying

A phone call is started from the Odoo Phone widget, and a WhatsApp message is sent with an approved template. Both are written to the history of the related record.

Why ASON

  • One database

Communication does not live in a separate tool; it sits on the record of the work itself. Someone who joins the team later reads the history by opening the record, without having to ask anyone.

  • Setup and data migration

ASON moves your existing contact, calendar and document data into Odoo. Fields are mapped, and duplicate or incomplete records are taken out before the transfer.

  • Odoo Learning Partner

ASON Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi is an Odoo Learning Partner. After the setup we train the team module by module; the same team that did the setup handles usage questions.

  • License differences up front

Knowledge, Approvals, Studio, Odoo Phone and WhatsApp are Enterprise-only; Discuss, Calendar, Dashboards and To-do run on Community. Which module runs on which edition is given to you in writing at the start of the project.

Frequently asked questions

Do the modules in this category need a separate server or a third-party tool?

Discuss, Calendar, Dashboards and To-do need no extra tool; they run in the same Odoo database. WhatsApp and Odoo Phone each depend on an account outside Odoo: one needs a WhatsApp Business Platform account on Meta's side, the other a SIP provider subscription. We determine which of these applies to you in the process review before the setup.

Do we need to buy an extra service for video calls in Discuss?

In most cases no; the call is established peer-to-peer with WebRTC. But if one of the attendees is behind a symmetric NAT, the connection cannot be established and an ICE server has to be configured through Twilio. Whether you need it depends on your network setup; we test it in the network review before the setup.

What from this category works on the Community edition?

Discuss, Calendar, Dashboards and To-do are in the Community edition and can be used on a Community installation. Knowledge, Approvals, Studio, Odoo Phone and WhatsApp come with Enterprise; on a Community installation these five do not appear in the list.

Which modules require an Odoo Enterprise subscription?

Five applications in this category come with Enterprise: Knowledge, Approvals, Studio, Odoo Phone and WhatsApp. The other applications in the category run on Community as well. If your need falls on one of these five, you will see the licence cost as a separate line in the project quote.

What is needed outside Odoo for WhatsApp?

A business account on Meta's side, a WhatsApp Business Platform account and a Meta app of the business type are required. The message templates you send have to pass Meta's approval, and a payment method has to be added to the Meta account. Opening these accounts and connecting them to Odoo is part of the setup; the subscription and message fees stay with you.

What kind of phone provider does Odoo Phone need?

The provider has to give access to a SIP server over a websocket connection and support the WebRTC protocol. We check your existing SIP provider or IP PBX together against those two conditions and run a test setup before the decision. The provider subscription is separate from the Odoo license.

Can you connect our existing Google or Outlook calendar to Odoo?

Yes. Odoo Calendar supports both Google and Outlook synchronization; for both, a Client ID and Client Secret are obtained from the platform and entered in the Odoo settings. Once the connection is made, events move between the two systems. ASON does the setup, and after the first sync we check the result together with a few test events.

Do you migrate our existing contact, calendar and document data into Odoo?

Yes. ASON moves your existing contact, calendar and document data into Odoo. Fields are mapped, and duplicate or incomplete records are taken out before the transfer. The method is determined at the start of the project according to the format of your source files, and we check the result together after the transfer.

Do you provide training after the setup?

Yes. ASON Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi is an Odoo Learning Partner and provides user training for the modules it installs. Training is done module by module: who uses which screen, the difference between an internal note and a message that goes to the customer in the record chatter, calendar and activity habits. After the training, the team that did the setup answers usage questions.
