Services

Odoo's Services apps keep the whole service business in one database, from sales order confirmation to the invoice. Projects, timesheets, tickets, shifts, appointments and field service tasks all connect to the same customer and contract record.

The service flow from sales order confirmation to invoice

  1. 01

    Contract and task

When a sales order containing a service product is confirmed, the project and the task are created automatically. The task stays linked to the order line.

  2. 02

    Planning the work

The work is planned as a shift or a field service task. In Planning it is distributed by role and resource in the Gantt view; open shifts can be assigned automatically.

  3. 03

    Recording on site

The technician fills in the worksheet on the task and adds the material used from the catalog. Material is drawn from the default warehouse, and tickets go to the same customer record.

  4. 04

    Hours and invoice

Hours logged on the task land in Timesheets. If the service product's invoicing policy is "Based on Timesheets", those hours carry over to the order line and are invoiced.

Why ASON

  • One chain of records

The sales order, the task, the timesheet and the invoice are tied to the same record. The hand-off file in between disappears; the hours logged turn directly into an invoiceable quantity.

  • Odoo Learning Partner

ASON Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi is an Odoo Learning Partner. Setup, data migration, customization and user training come from the same team; training is not handed over to a separate supplier.

  • A team that knows field work

ASON is also an electrical and electronics engineering company. It uses field service, work orders and project tracking in its own business, and does the setup with that experience.

  • License scope clear from the start

Before setup we tell you in writing which module is in Odoo Community and which one requires an Enterprise subscription. The module list is part of the scope document.

Frequently asked questions

Are all the modules in the Services category available in Odoo Community?

No. Project and Timesheets come with the Odoo 19 Community edition under the LGPL-3 licence, and you can go ahead on Community with those two. Helpdesk, Planning, Appointments and Field Service are not in Community; those four applications require an Odoo Enterprise subscription.

Can we find out which module requires an Enterprise subscription before the setup?

Yes. Before the setup we tell you in writing which module is in Odoo Community and which one requires an Enterprise subscription. The module list is part of the scope document. You make the subscription decision from that list, before the setup starts.

How does the flow from the sales order to the invoice work?

When a sales order containing a service product is confirmed, the project and the task are created automatically; the task stays linked to the order line. The work is planned as a shift or a field service task. Hours logged on the task land in Timesheets. If the service product's invoicing policy is "Based on Timesheets", those hours carry over to the order line and are invoiced.

Can you migrate our existing data to Odoo?

Yes. We move customers, projects, tasks and past time records with import templates. First the field mapping is produced, then a trial load is run in a test database. Go-live happens after the result of that trial load is compared with you and approved.

What happens to fields that do not match or cannot be moved?

The trial load is run in a test database and the result is compared with you. The field mapping is reviewed at that stage. Fields that do not match or cannot be moved are delivered as a report. Go-live only happens after that comparison is approved.

How long does the setup take?

The duration depends on the scope. A setup with a single module and standard settings is not the same as a multi-company setup with custom fields and a data migration. So we first run a needs analysis and produce a scope document covering the module list, the customization items and the training days. We give the schedule according to that document.

Do you provide training as well?

Yes. ASON Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi is an Odoo Learning Partner. We train by role: the administrator user is taken through the settings screens and access rights, the end user through their own daily screen. Training runs on a copy of the live database, so users work with their own data. A support period for questions after the setup is defined separately.

We use a different version of Odoo — does this still apply?

The information on this page is for Odoo 19. If you use a different version, menu names, the location of settings and some features may differ. When we draw up the scope we take the version you use as the basis and write the differences against it.

Can we change Odoo to fit our own workflow?

Yes. Adding fields, changing screen layouts and changing reports can all be done with Odoo Studio. Studio comes with the Enterprise edition. We apply every customization in a test database first.

If we have customizations made, will a version upgrade still be possible?

Yes. For deeper changes that Studio does not cover we write a separate module: the standard module's code is not modified, it is extended. That keeps a version upgrade possible. Every change is applied in a test database first and then moved to production. ASON carries out the version upgrade itself: we move your existing installation and data to the new version and make the extra modules we wrote compatible with it.
