surveySurveys
Building surveys, assessments and certifications

Builds question forms, distributes them by link or email invitation, and scores and reports the answers.
What it does
The survey form holds the list of questions, and the questions can be split into sections. The Options tab sets the pagination, the time limit, the scoring, the participation rules and the number of attempts. When scoring is turned on, a survey can be configured as an assessment or a certification. Live Session mode collects the answers at the same time.
Question types
There are eight types: multiple choice with one answer, multiple choice with several answers, single line text box, multiple lines text box, numerical value, date, datetime and matrix. In multiple choice questions each option can be marked as correct and given a score. Text, number and date questions can be given a minimum/maximum limit and a custom error message.
Conditional question
A question can be tied to a particular answer to an earlier question. When the triggering answer field is filled in, the question is shown only to the participants who gave that answer. One survey can therefore ask different questions of different groups of participants. This feature cannot be used on surveys where the questions are randomized.
Participation and attempts
Access is set either to anyone with the link or to invited people only. Login can be made mandatory and the number of attempts per participant can be limited. Pagination is chosen as one page per question, one page per section, or one page with all the questions. Progress is shown as a percentage or as a number of questions.
Scoring and live session
Scoring can be left off, or turned on with or without showing the correct answers. A time limit can be set on the survey. In Live Session mode participants join with a session code, the questions open one after another, and extra points can be defined for fast answers. A separate time limit per question can be set as well.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use it as a certification?
Yes. When Assessment is picked as the survey type and scoring is turned on, a survey can become a certification. Scoring is done with or without showing the correct answers, and a passing threshold is defined. The participant's result is recorded. The dashboard card shows the success rate and the certification status separately.
Can the same person fill in the survey more than once?
That is up to you. On the Options tab the number of attempts per participant can be limited. When access is set to invited people only and the login requirement is enabled, the participant's identity is clear and the limit works reliably. With the anyone-with-the-link option, the survey is open to anyone who gets hold of the link.
What is live session mode for?
It is for collecting answers at the same time during a training session or a presentation. Participants enter the survey with a session code, the questions open one after another, and the answers are followed through the session. A time limit per question can be set, and extra points can be defined for fast answers. When Live Session is picked as the survey type, these settings become visible on the form.
What question types can I use?
There are eight types: multiple choice with one answer, multiple choice with several answers, single line text box, multiple lines text box, numerical value, date, datetime and matrix. Text, number and date questions can be given a minimum and maximum limit and a custom error message. Questions can be split into sections and marked as required.
Can I show different questions depending on the answer given?
Yes, with conditional display. A question is tied to a particular answer to an earlier question and is shown only to the participants who gave that answer. One survey can therefore ask different groups different questions. There is one limit: conditional display cannot be used on surveys where the questions are randomized.
How do I get the survey to participants?
Two ways: you share the link, or you send an email invitation. Access is set either to anyone with the link or to invited people only, and the login requirement is a separate option. A survey can be tested before it is published, so you see the question flow before it goes to participants.
Where do I see the survey results?
The dashboard cards show the number of questions, the average completion time, the number of registered and completed participants, and the success rate. When scoring is on, the participant's result is recorded. The results button on the survey screen opens the breakdown of the answers.
