Quality

Control points, quality checks and non-conformity records

Quality

Places control points on receipt, manufacturing and delivery steps, and records failed results as quality alerts.

What it does

The Quality module works through quality control points. You decide on which operation (receipt, manufacturing, delivery) and at what frequency a point is triggered. When it is triggered, the check appears in front of the operator. If the check fails, a quality alert is opened and followed with the product, work center and root cause information. This app is specific to Odoo Enterprise.

Quality control point

A point is linked to a product or a product category and to an operation. If manufacturing is selected, it can be attached to a specific work order step, for example only to the test step. The frequency is chosen as every time, a random percentage, periodically or on demand.

Check types

There are instructions, take a picture, register production, pass-fail, measure and worksheet types. In the measure type, a norm value and a tolerance range are entered; if the value the operator enters is outside the range, the check counts as failed.

Quality alert

A quality alert is opened when a check fails or when the operator sees the need. The alert has product, work center, responsible quality team and root cause fields. Alerts are tracked with their stages on a kanban board.

Link to manufacturing and the warehouse

Checks appear inside the receipt, work order and delivery screens; no separate program is opened. A separate non-conforming stock location can be defined for products that fail, so that faulty products are kept apart from usable stock.

We don't just install the module — we fit it to your business

ASON defines your quality control points for the receipt, manufacturing and delivery operations; enters the norm value and tolerance range product by product for the measure checks, sets up the non-conforming stock location, and shows your quality team the alert flow.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Quality module available in the Community edition?

No, the Quality app is specific to Odoo Enterprise. In the same way, PLM (product lifecycle management) is on the Enterprise side. A limited check flow can be set up in the Community edition with what remains, but ready-made features such as control points, measurement tolerances and quality alerts are not available. We settle the edition choice after drawing up a list of requirements.

On which operations does a quality control point come into play?

A control point is linked to the receipt, manufacturing and delivery operations. The point is defined on a product or a product category. If manufacturing is selected, it can be attached to a specific work order step, for example only to the test step. Checks appear inside the relevant screen; the operator does not open a separate program.

Do we have to run a check on every product?

No. The frequency is chosen as every time, a random percentage, periodically or on demand. With a random percentage, the check only appears on the share of operations you set. The frequency is set per control point; you can check every time on a critical step and sample on the others.

Which check types can be used?

There are instructions, take a picture, register production, pass-fail, measure and worksheet types. In the measure type, a norm value and a tolerance range are entered; if the value the operator enters falls outside the range, the check counts as failed. In the pass-fail type, the operator only marks the result.

How do we connect electronic board testing to Odoo?

You define the test operation as a separate work order step in the bill of materials. A quality control point of the measure type is attached to that step; a norm value and a tolerance range are entered. The operator types the measured value on the work order screen, and if it is outside the range the check fails and a quality alert is opened. The measurement records are kept together with the serial number.

What happens when a check fails?

A quality alert is opened. The alert has product, work center, responsible quality team and root cause fields, and alerts are tracked with their stages on a kanban board. The operator can also open an alert without a check failing. A separate non-conforming stock location can be defined for faulty products so they are kept apart from usable stock.

Can we produce without quality control?

Yes. The Manufacturing module works without the Quality module installed; bills of materials, work orders and cost tracking are not affected. You can bring quality checks in later, and you do not have to change your existing bills of materials. Control points are usually added once the manufacturing flow has settled.
