Appraisals

A cycle of goals, two-sided feedback and the appraisal meeting

Appraisals

Plans appraisal periods and gathers the goals and both the employee's and the manager's feedback on one record.

What it does

An appraisal record is split in two: the employee's own assessment and the manager's assessment. Each side chooses with a toggle when to share its own section, and until a section is shared the other side cannot see it. Goals are tracked with a progress percentage and a deadline; when the manager enters the final rating and marks the record as done, the record is locked. This module is Enterprise-only.

Two-sided feedback

The employee section is made up of My work, My future and My feelings; the manager section of Feedback, Evaluation and Improvements. Each section has its own visibility toggle, and the manager can keep their section hidden until the meeting itself. The Private Note tab is open to managers only; the employee cannot see this tab.

Goals

A goal record has employee, manager, progress, deadline, description and tag fields. Progress is picked from 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent; at 100 percent it turns green, and goals past their deadline appear in red. The usual timing field in the Goal Library is in months and calculates the deadline automatically.

360 feedback

Before completing their own assessment, the manager can request feedback from the people the employee works with. The views collected are used while the manager prepares their assessment. The meeting is scheduled directly from the Kanban card; the attendee fields fill in automatically with the employee and the appraisers.

Planning and reporting

The appraisal analysis report is colour-coded in the Gantt view: yellow for done, orange for confirmed but not finished, red for cancelled, grey for scheduled but not confirmed. The default grouping is by month and department, and it can also be grouped by status. A manager can filter to their own team and see only the appraisals they are responsible for.

We don't just install the module — we fit it to your business

ASON adjusts your appraisal templates and section headings to your own forms; sets up the appraisal schedule, the goal library and the usual timing fields, explains section visibility and the 360 feedback flow to your managers, and reads the reports through with them.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Appraisals module in the Community edition?

No. Appraisals is an Enterprise-only app, so if you want to stay on the Community edition you cannot run the appraisal process with it. There are two routes: run the process outside Odoo and write the outcome into the skills on the employee record, or build a module specific to you. We decide together which one fits after going through the scope.

Does the employee see what the manager writes?

That is a configuration question. The manager's assessment section has its own visibility toggle; the manager can keep that section hidden until the meeting. In the same way, the employee's own assessment stays closed to the appraisers until it is shared. The Private Note tab, however, is open to managers only and the employee can never reach it; we decide together which section opens when, according to your company policy.

Can we track goals in Odoo?

Yes. A goal record has employee, manager, progress, deadline, description and tag fields. Progress is picked from 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent; at 100 percent the record turns green, and goals past their deadline appear in red. The usual timing field in the Goal Library is in months and calculates the deadline automatically.

Can we collect feedback from the people an employee works with?

Yes. Before completing their own assessment, the manager can request feedback from the people the employee works with, and the views collected are used while the assessment is prepared. The Private Note tab is open to managers only, so sensitive notes stay separate from the employee. This flow comes with the Appraisals module, which is Enterprise-only.

Can we schedule the appraisal meeting from the system?

Yes. The meeting is scheduled directly from the Kanban card of the appraisal record, and the attendee fields fill in automatically with the employee and the appraisers. Scheduled meetings appear colour-coded in the appraisal analysis report in the Gantt view: yellow for done, orange for confirmed but not finished, red for cancelled, grey for scheduled but not confirmed.

Can a completed appraisal be changed afterwards?

When the manager enters the final rating and marks the record as done, the record is locked. If a change is needed, the Reopen button makes the record editable again. In the report, completed records appear yellow and cancelled ones red, and they are grouped by month and department. The module is Enterprise-only.

Does the appraisal result feed into pay automatically?

The module makes no claim of such an automatic link, and neither do we. An appraisal record carries a final rating, and the change in an employee's skills is followed through the skills evolution screen. A pay change is handled separately in the Payroll module, and Payroll is Enterprise-only. If you want a flow that ties the appraisal result to a salary revision, it has to be designed separately within the project scope.
