Publish courses, track progress and certification
A training module that lets you publish courses made up of videos, documents, articles and quizzes, and follow attendee progress.
What it does
Courses are divided into sections; images, articles, PDFs, video links and quizzes are added as content. The access and enrollment policy is set per course: everyone, signed-in users, course attendees only, or anyone with the link. Enrollment can be open, by invitation or on payment; paid courses are sold through the eCommerce module. Courses and their content are published separately.
Content types
Images (JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF, WEBP; up to 25 MB), articles, PDF documents, YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive video links, and quizzes are added. Content is ordered under sections and each item is published individually.
Access and enrollment
The Show Course To field is chosen among Everyone, Signed In, Course Attendees or Anyone with the link. The enrollment policy is Open, On Invitation or On Payment. You can build a sequential learning path by defining prerequisite courses.
Certification and quizzes
Assessment is done through the Surveys application; a successful attendee receives a certification. On the Karma tab, points are given according to which attempt reached the correct answer. The rights to comment, vote and review can be tied to a karma threshold.
Tracking and communication
Attendee progress is followed from the course screen. Email templates are defined to be sent when new content is added and when the course is completed. Mass mailings can be sent to enrolled attendees, and a discussion forum can be attached to the course.

What content can we add to a course?
Courses are divided into sections; images (JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF, WEBP; up to 25 MB), articles, PDF documents, YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive video links and quizzes are added to each section. Content is ordered under the sections. Courses and their content are published separately, so you can keep a section hidden until it is ready.
Can we sell courses for a fee?
Yes. When you set the enrollment policy to On Payment, the course is sold through the eCommerce module, so the eCommerce application has to be installed. When the payment completes, the attendee is enrolled automatically. Pricing, coupons and the invoicing flow work the same way as for other products.
Can we give attendees a certificate?
Yes. The assessment is run through the Surveys application, and a successful attendee receives a certificate. On the Karma tab, points are given according to which attempt reached the correct answer. The rights to comment, vote and review can also be tied to a karma threshold.
How do we follow attendee progress?
Attendee progress is followed from the course screen. Email templates are defined for when new content is added and when a course is completed, and a mass email can be sent to enrolled attendees. By attaching a discussion forum to the course you can collect the questions in one place.
Are SCORM packages supported?
Odoo's documented content types are images, articles, PDFs, video links and its own quiz structure; SCORM packages are not on that list. If you have existing SCORM content, it has to be rebuilt as videos and documents, or a third-party module has to be researched. We need to clarify this scope at the start of the project.
Is it suitable for internal training?
It is. If you limit the course to Signed In or Course Attendees and make enrollment by invitation, the content is closed to the outside. You can build a sequential program with prerequisite courses and follow completion status from the course screen. It can be set up together with recruitment and onboarding processes.
